1 Peter 3:21: Baptism w/o Water – No water here!! Let's ask Cornelius – Remember that he received the Holy Spirit and then was baptized (Part 2 – Interpretation) (November 28, 2023) (1 Peter 3:15-21 KJV; John 14:17-20 KJV) The stand alone verse: 1 Peter 3:21 KJV The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: ● The goal: Using scripture not denominational preference, emotion or tradition ● The goal: Making sense using common sense ignoring nonsense – It is better to have common sense without education than to have education without common sense. What we are not looking for – what is eliminated by the passage: ● Immediately, Peter tells us is not water: “not the putting away of the filth of the flesh” ● Water is not used here – water is for cleansing and this is not a cleansing “like figure” ● Some want a good dunking – a water baptism for salvation: Look at Cornelius and friends: ● Cornelius and friends (Gentiles) seeking Peter: Acts 10:24 KJV And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends. ● Peter brings the word of God: Acts 10:34 KJV Then Peter opened [his] mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: ● Gentiles were saved by the gift of the Holy Spirit: Acts 10:44 KJV While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. ● Holy Spirit/salvation first then baptized: Acts 10:47 KJV Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? ● The “like figure” by water baptism need to be eliminated ● No water here!! But some say that the hearers need to be baptized with water to get salvation: ● Eternal salvation is without works: Ephesians 2:8 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: ● Peter is speaking to hearers kept by the power of God – believers: 1 Peter 1:5 KJV Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. ● Hint – The power of God is the Holy Spirit: John 14:17 KJV [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. ● The power of God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is within us: John 14:20 KJV At that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. ● Jesus taught this and prayed for it: John 17:21 KJV That they all may be one; as thou, Father, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. ● No water here!! What we are looking for – where does the passage lead us: ● The “The like figure” of the waterless baptism that “doth also now save us”: ● Let’s clarify “doth also now save us”: Save by Strong’s definition (G4982) is “keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction” – to save us from ourselves ● The passage is not about eternal salvation – it is about being kept safe in the world ● The answer is provided: “the answer of a good conscience toward God” “by the resurrection of Jesus Christ” ● The tradition of man (water baptism) has kept from the glorification of God ● No water here!! The theme – Peter builds the bridge for our understanding: ● Chapter 2 begins with the instruction: 1 Peter 2:1-2 KJV Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, (2) As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: ● Peter’s instruction is christian living – overcoming the evil flesh through Jesus Christ (verse 21-24) ● Chapter 2 ends with: 1 Peter 2:25 KJV For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. ● Chapter 3 begins with “Likewise” and continues for fifteen verses about overcoming the evil flesh through Jesus Christ ● THEN a connecting phrase to 1 Peter 3:21 KJV: 1 Peter 3:16 KJV Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. ● Notice: 1 Peter 3:21 KJV: “good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:” – It is about what Jesus Christ did, not water baptism Where does the passage lead us – we are being “saved” from something: ● Jesus is the “like figure” of baptism that puts “away of the filth of the flesh” AND is “the answer of a good conscience toward God”: Rightly dividing the passage – not just a verse ● The simple and major answer is “the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (verse 21): The work of the Holy Spirit through Jesus not man, not water baptism ● The basis is the previous verses: 1 Peter 3:18-20 KJV For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: (19) By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; (20) Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. ● The type: Key to our search for a “like figure” is the “days of Noah” ● Granted we have death, burial and resurrection mimicked by our water baptism BUT the point is a waterless “like figure” of Jesus Christ exampled by Noah and the Ark – waterless ● Say what: The ark saved “eight souls” “by water“ locked inside by God – not in the water ● The world was cleansed of evil flesh (Genesis 6:5 KJV) by burying with water ● Calling water baptism the fulfillment of waterless saving is a mis-interpretation ● Noah and family was saved by not getting wet – the evil flesh of the world was killed by the water ● Where else is the waterless cleansing: Crossing the Red Seas 600,000 men (Exodus 12:37 KJV) and families w/gentiles (strangers) were saved by not getting wet – The evil was killed by water (Exodus 14:26-28 KJV) ● Not eternal salvation, BUT saved from the evil flesh/Egyptians: Exodus 14:13 KJV And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. ● The example of the “like figure” of baptism that puts “away of the filth of the flesh” is the “days of Noah” (verse 20) leading us to the example of the Red Sea crossing leading us to “the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (verse 21) – The work of the Holy Spirit through Jesus not man, not water baptism ● Resurrection “ puts “away of the filth of the flesh” of the believer – water was used for killing evil – Revelation 20:14 “death and hell were cast into the lake of fire” by Jesus ● No water here!! What is 1 Peter 3:21 KJV is About: ● The goal is the “putting away of the filth of the flesh” ● By looking for “the answer of a good conscience toward God” ● Through the finished work of Jesus Christ “by the resurrection of Jesus Christ” ● The answer is “the Spirit of truth” – Another Comforter – The Holy Spirit – The “like figure” ● Romans 8:11 KJV But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. ● The promise of the Father (Acts 1:4 KJV): Acts 1:5 KJV For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. 1 Peter 3:21 KJV is about: Spiritual Growth & Overcoming Temptation – Not Water “the answer of a good conscience toward God” – Not Water The work of God – not the water baptism by man About the Glorification of God – Not the work of man No Water Here!! Part 1 is the Introduction – Part 2 is understanding of the “will of the Lord

The Ark: God’s Promise of a Way of Escape A cute story of animals and rainbows, we miss the spiritual message of God (Part 1) (November 22, 2020) (Genesis 6-7 KJV) Typology: Typology unites both covenants, seeing in the Old Covenant types and shadows which prefigure something in the New Covenant. Physical systems are established in the Old that become spiritual in the New. Old Testament concealed -- New Testament revealed. Nicodemus could not handle all the knowledge at once. ● Note: Shadows are created by something real -- typology is prophecy in action ● Old Testament is not a bunch of huey buluey -- Hebrews 4:2 KJV For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard [it]. ● The “gospel” has been preached from the beginning: The passage is actually addressing the days of Moses about believers and unbelievers ● The “good news” about salvation has much of the foundation in Genesis 6-9 KJV (Noahic Covenant) (see message of November 8, 2020 entitled The Ark: A Type of Savior, Waterless Baptism & Salvation) The condition: Genesis 6:13a KJV And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; . . . . . . . . ● Them is not those that “walked with God” (Genesis 6:9 KJV): The chapter begins with reference to the “sons of God” that multiplied with offspring of the Garden producing “mighty men” The plan: Genesis 6:13b KJV . . . . . . . .and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. (14) Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. The offer -- to those that “walked with God”: Genesis 6:18 KJV But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee. Chapter 9 establishes the covenant as everlasting ● It is God’s plan -- not ours: Genesis 6:22 KJV Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. ● We are the laborers/servants The promise -- “a way to escape”: ● 1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it]. Symbolism of the Ark: God’s promise of a way of escape (the flood) -- in the same way the blood of the Passover Lamb (original) and the blood of Yeshua covers us and provides grace over judgment ● God provided the “escape plan” for Noah and family before the rain/flood/tribulation -- God provided the “escape plan” of Saviourship from the very beginning; “from the foundation of the world” (Revelation 13:8 KJV) ● God revealed His Ark design to Noah (God needed no assistance from man) -- God reveals His pre-designed plan of salvation to man through the Holy Spirit (John 16:8-15 KJV) ● God provided a place of safety from destruction -- ark defined is protection from destruction; for the Hebrews it is defined as a sacred chest representing the presence of God among them. ● Protection for Moses: Exodus 2:3 KJV And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid [it] in the flags by the river's brink. ● Protection for the covenant: Deuteronomy 10:3-4 KJV And I made an ark [of] shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand. ● Protection from the wrath to come: 1 Thessalonians 1:10 KJV And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. ● God provides the invitation: The building plans and covenant included an invitation (Genesis 6:18 KJV). Noah followed “all that God commanded him” (Genesis 6:22 KJV) and God invited: ● Genesis 7:1 KJV And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. ● Comes is not a commandment but invitation: Come used 500+ times in scripture ● Three types of invitations: Rest; discipleship; abide ● Remember: Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast. ● Rest: Matthew 11:28 KJV Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ● Discipleship: Mark 1:17 KJV And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. ● Abide: John 15:4 KJV Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. More to come: Security; one door; three stories; window above; rooms; atonement; resting day Yeshua enhanced the “come” typology/ the “come” invitation: John 14:15-18 KJV If ye love me, keep my commandments. (16) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; (17) [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (18) I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. ● The commandment -- the old/new commandment: John 13:34-35 KJV A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. (35) By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. ● The commandment: John 14:1 KJV Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. ● John 14:20 KJV At that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

The Ark: A Type of Savior, Waterless Baptism & Salvation In a cute story of animals and rainbows, we miss the spiritual message of God (November 15, 2020) By faith Noah was a seeker: Hebrews 11:6-7 KJV But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (7) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Preparation of the ark is a like figure: 1 Peter 3:20-21 KJV Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. (21) The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: ● Peter qualifies baptism saves by water: “not the putting away of the filth”; “good conscience toward God”; “by the resurrection of Jesus Christ” The Days of Noe – So shall be the Second Coming: Matthew 24:37-39 KJV But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (38) For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, (39) And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. ● “But as”: “But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” ● Like before: Judgment/flood came; man was totally oblivious; those not seeking will be taken away; those that seek after Him are saved; summarized as “so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” Back to Genesis 6-9 for the typology/shadow: A shadow not a prophecy: Genesis 6:5-7 KJV And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually. (6) And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. (7) And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them . . . . . . . . Genesis 6:12-13 KJV And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. (13) And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. ● Yeshua gives many warnings as in Matthew 7; Matthew 13; Matthew 24-25; ● Apostle Paul prepares young Timothy: All of 2 Timothy especially 2 Timothy 4:1-5 ● Judgment then and in the future: Romans 3:5-6 KJV But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? [Is] God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man) (6) God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world? ● God’s wrath will become full: Revelation 15:1 KJV And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God. ● God’s judgment will be right: Revelation 19:2 KJV For true and righteous [are] his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. ● God is looking for a few good men -- seekers: Genesis 6:8 KJV But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. God’s plan -- not ours: ● God gives the instructions in detail: Genesis 6:14-17 KJV Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, . . . . . . . . . ● Then He says: Genesis 6:18 KJV But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee. ● What is the covenant: Genesis 9:1-17 in detail is the rainbow as a token; it is with all the earth; it is everlasting; it re-establishes the Garden directives in Genesis 9:1 KJV And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. ● Noahic Covenant still exists today -- It is the beginning of a salvation plan being continuously and progressively worked throughout the scriptures and ages ● Little observed is “thou shalt come into the ark” -- available to the seekers that “found grace”: Genesis 6:8 KJV But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. Noah found grace -- symbols of grace: ● Ark: God’s promise of a way of escape (the flood) -- in the same way the blood of the Passover Lamb (original) and the blood of Yeshua covers us and provides grace over judgment ● 1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it]. ● Raven (Genesis 8:7 KJV): Symbolic of God will provide -- Job 38:41 KJV Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat. ● Dove: Symbolic of The Holy Spirit (all four Gospels at the baptism of Yeshua) The dove/Holy Spirit searches for and delivers the peace of God ● Olive branch (Genesis 8:11 KJV): Tradition is peace. But the olive branch was actually the sprouting from a tree -- Olive tree ● Olive tree (mentioned only by inference): Deeply rooted tree (and deeply rooted in Jewish culture) that regenerates itself with a log life ● Shemen/shemesh -- “tree of oil”: It is from a primitive root meaning “to shine.” It means “richness, anointing, fat, fruitful, oil, ointment, olive.” It is related to the word shemesh, “to be brilliant,” and which also is the Hebrew word for the “sun,” that brightly shining orb in the sky. ● Day of rest on Mt. Ararat (Genesis 8:1-4 KJV): Nissan 17 -- also date of crossing the Red Sea (exodus); Resurrection Day Final thoughts: ● Cometh; believe; seek; be warned: Hebrews 11:6-7 KJV But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (7) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. ● God’s invitation is wide open: John 3:16 KJV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ● God gives warning as in “the days of Noe”: John 3:18 KJV He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

[how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! ● Jesus spoke in parables – the scriptures are parabolic: Matthew 13:34 KJV All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: ● God declares from the beginning: Isaiah 46:10 KJV Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times [the things] that are not [yet] done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: The parable – the deeper meaning: ● Death: – All houses had death (What does it really say): Exodus 12:30 KJV And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for [there was] not a house where [there was] not one dead. ● Hidden meaning is spiritual death: The cause – misery, pain, anguish and weeping; the captivity of the darkness of the flesh ● Captivity of spiritual death: Romans 5:12 KJV Therefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: ● Apostle Paul asks: Romans 7:24 KJV O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? ● Sign of the cross and morning light: Exodus 12:22 KJV And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip [it] in the blood that [is] in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that [is] in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. ● Jesus is the “the bright and morning star” (Revelation 22:16 KJV) AND John 8:12 KJV Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. ● 1 Thessalonians 5:5 KJV Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. ● Salvation included Gentiles: Exodus 12:38 KJV And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, [even] very much cattle ● Mixed multitude: Other than Israelites (Gentiles) – Abraham commanded to circumcise servant/strangers (Genesis 17:9-14 KJV); Moses had a gentile bride (Exodus 2:15-21 KJV) ● Massive exodus of mixed multitude on the path of the straight road: Isaiah 45:22 KJV Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else. ● Deliverance from misery (Nisan 17): Exodus 14:30 KJV Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. What are we going to do with Jesus: Matthew 27:22 KJV “What shall I do then with Jesus . . . “ ● The plan: Nisan 10th - brought in for inspection; 14th - killed in the afternoon; 17th - risen ● Importance of Nisan 17 (overcome/victory): Noah’s Ark landed (Gen 8:4); Hebrews entered Egypt (Exo 12:40-41); Moses led the Israelites through the Parting of the Red Sea (Exo 3:18, 5:3); Queen Esther saved the Jews from Elimination (Esther 3:12, 5:1); The Resurrection of Messiah The Exodus Points To The Resurrection: ● Where it started for man – death: Genesis 2:17 KJV But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. ● Deliverance from mizraim: Exodus 6:6 KJV Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I [am] the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: ● Deliverance from bondage – life: Romans 6:5-11 KJV For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection: (6) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. (7) For he that is dead is freed from sin. (8) Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: (9) Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. (10) For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. (11) Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. ● Deliverance from darkness - “the bright and morning star”: John 8:12 KJV Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. ● Free indeed: Galatians 5:1 KJV Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. ● God’s complete plan – we are called to conform to the image of the Son: Romans 8:28-29 KJV And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. (29) For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. ● Being thankful: Romans 7:25 KJV I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. . . . . . . . . . . ● Become a thankful servant: 2 Corinthians 5:15 KJV And [that] he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. ● Because Jesus offers freedom from bondage of death by offering eternal life: John 11:25-26 KJV Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (26) And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Deliverance: Jesus Is Our Deliverer Jesus was sent with a mission – to preach, teach & heal: Do we believe (Part 3) (Luke 4:14-32 KJV; Isaiah 58 & 61 KJV) Jesus raised up like unto Moses: Deuteronomy 18:15 KJV The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; ● The Lord said: Deuteronomy 18:18 KJV I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. ● Hebrews 3:3 KJV - For this [man] was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. ● Moses “as a servant” (Hebrews 3:5 ); Jesus “as a son over his own house” (Hebrews 3:6 KJV) ● Moses delivered from mizraim: Exodus 6:6 KJV Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I [am] the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, . . . . . . . . . . . . ● Jesus delivered from bondage of death: Romans 6:5-11 KJV For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection: (6) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Jesus was sent with a mission: Luke 4:18-19 KJV The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, (19) To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. ● Majority quoted from Isaiah 61:1-2 KJV – Not read: “and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn” (Isaiah 61:2 KJV) ● Phase “to set at liberty them that are bruised”: Isaiah 58:6 KJV [Is] not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? ● Points of the mission: (1) “Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me“; (2) “he hath anointed me”; (3) “preach the gospel to the poor”; (4) “heal the brokenhearted”; (5) “preach deliverance to the captives”; (6) “recovering of sight to the blind”; (7) “set at liberty them that are bruised”; (8) “To preach the acceptable year of the Lord” ● Jesus is known as our deliverer by name: Jesus’ name means God saves; God is our deliverer; savior; rescuer – Hebrew is Joshua (overcomer & deliverer); Greek is Jesus (savior or deliverer) Hidden details of the Deliverer delivering the message: ● There purposefully: Mark 6:1 KJV And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. ● He was there to read: Luke 4:16 KJV And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. (reading from (Isaiah 58 & 61 KJV) (minor point that Jesus was unlearned - John 7:14 KJV) ● He closed the book, sat down and taught the gospel: Mark 1:22 KJV And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. (Mark 4:32 KJV says “astonished” and “with power”) ● He began to heal – but not at home: Luke 4:24 KJV And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. The problem – unbelief: Exodus 4:1 KJV And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. ● Not accepted: Luke 4:24 KJV And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. ● Astonished, but: Luke 4:29 KJV And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. ● Unbelief persisted: John 12:37 KJV But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: ● John 2:23-24 KJV Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast [day], many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. (24) But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all [men], Even His cousin questions: Luke 7:19 KJV And John calling [unto him] two of his disciples sent [them] to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? ● The deliverer is delivering: Luke 7:22-23 KJV Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. (23) And blessed is [he], whosoever shall not be offended in me. ● Reading, teaching & healing – prophesied in Isaiah, spoken in Luke and reaffirmed to John Do we believe: ● We are sent: John 20:21 KJV Then said Jesus to them again, Peace [be] unto you: as [my] Father hath sent me, even so send I you. ● Letting our light shine: Matthew 5:14-16 KJV Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. (15) Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. (16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. ● Do we believe: John 11:25-26 KJV Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (26) And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? Hebrews 2:3 KJV How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard [him]

Deliverance: Being Delivered From Error to Truth Broad evangelicalism: Abandonment of the clear understanding of “saved”/”born again” (Part 4) (May 1, 2022) (Romans 6:1-18 KJV; Isaiah 56:10 KJV) Modern evangelicalism: “Christianity and being a true believer, you know, I think there’s the body of Christ, which comes from all the Christian groups around the world, or outside the Christian groups. I think everybody that loves Christ or knows Christ, whether they’re conscious of it or not, they’re members of the body of Christ.” (Quoted from interview of Billy Graham by Dr. Robert Schuller) “There’s a wideness in God’s mercy.” Dr. Graham: “There is – there definitely is.” ● To disagree becomes “unloving” – but this is the opposite of the teaching of Jesus in Matthew 7:13-23 concluding “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” ● Our warning: God is a God of truth, and Satan is a liar – we do not want to be “dumb dogs”: Isaiah 56:10 KJV His watchmen [are] blind: they are all ignorant, they [are] all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Deliverance: The rescue from bondage or danger/salvation (Greek - exaire) ● The descriptions/examples of deliverance in the beginning are symbolic of the spiritual deliverance from sin which is available only through Christ. ● Jesus is the deliverer: Galatians 1:4 KJV Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: ● Believers are delivered once from eternal punishment – we are also delivered from the trials of this life (2 Peter 2:9 KJV) ● Sometimes that deliverance is God simply walking through the trials by our side, comforting and encouraging us through them as He uses them to mature us in the faith. (Daniel 10:10-21 KJV) ● God makes the way of escape simultaneously with the temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV) Salvation is deliverance from error by truth: Deliverance identifies a true christian/believer; deliverance from darkness by light: Colossians 1:12-13 KJV Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son: ● The delivered/believer: Knows the truth, loves the truth, worships the God of truth, exalts the Christ of truth, is indwelt by the Spirit of truth, and obeys the Word of truth (and rejects any other means of salvation). Truth is the heart and soul of the gospel that saves. ● A true Christian knows the truth, understands the truth, loves the truth, lives for the truth. ● Salvation: A Spirit prompted heart that seeks God – God will deliver the truth about Christ so they can believe – apart from that, there’s no salvation. (John 3:16-18; 14:17-20 KJV) ● God is a God of truth – satan is a liar; satan is a “want to be” (Isaiah 14:13-14); God says “you’re gonna be” (Ezekiel 28:17-18 KJV); God will deliver us by His five “I wills” (Exodus 6:6-8 KJV) ● Let us not be “dumb dogs” Satan disguises as deliverance: Scottish preacher, Horatius Bonar, wrote of Satan and the gospel these words: “He comes as an angel of light, to mislead yet pretending to lead, to blind, yet professing to open the eye, to obscure and bewilder, yet professing to illuminate and guide. He approaches us with fair words upon his lips; liberality, progress, culture, freedom, expansion, elevation, benevolence. He seeks to make his own out of all of these, to give the world as much of these as suits his purpose, as much as will make them content without God, and without Christ, and without the Holy Ghost. He sets himself against God and the things of God in every way. He can deny the gospel, or he can dilute the gospel, or he can obscure the gospel, or he can neutralize the gospel. He rages against the true God, sometimes openly and coarsely, and sometimes calmly and politely, making men believe he is the friend of the truth.” ● The cause: False teachers preaching error instead of truth – darkness for light ● Let us not be “dumb dogs” Deliverance from sin to righteousness: Romans 6:17-18 KJV But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. (18) Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. ● Notice the qualifier: “obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered” ● What “form of doctrine” – the pure doctrine: Jude 1:3 KJV Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort [you] that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. ● New pattern to practice: Servants of righteousness – Righteous people practice righteousness ● It is clear in 1 John 3:4-10 KJV – Children of God or children of satan: One of God does not practice sin; one that abides in God does not continue a sin pattern; “Little children, let no man deceive you” (verse 7); “He that committeth sin is of the devil” (verse 8); “the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil” (verse 10) ● Summary – the unclear modern evangelicalism: Christian can be w/o righteousness; unbelieving believer; they can reject God, curse God, live a life of sin and still believe they are a believer ● Salvation: It is not an event; it is not walking forward; it is not raising a hand; it is not signing a card; it is not praying a prayer; it is not an emotional event and then disappearing ● Let us not be “dumb dogs” ● Salvation: It is deliverance from error to truth; deliverance from darkness to light; it is transformation from “servants of sin” to “servants of righteousness” ● Salvation is believe + fruit production: It is John 14.17 KJV + John 14:20 KJV + John 15:5 KJV I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. Deliverance from the “old man” to a “new man”: ● Deliverance from the old body of sin: Romans 6:6 KJV Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. ● Freed by deliverance: Romans 6:7 KJV For he that is dead is freed from sin. ● New pattern/practice – “reign in”: Romans 6:12-13 KJV Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. (13) Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God. ● If, then – the pattern/practice: 1 John 1:8 KJV If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ● “If” – If we bump our knee: 1 John 1:9 KJV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ● Important: Deliverance is not a feeling – it is a practice/pattern of our walk Jesus Is Our Deliverer (Part 3) Galatians 1:4 KJV Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world Jesus was sent with a mission – to preach, teach, heal & deliver us Do we believe – Let us not be “dumb dogs

Deliverance: From Temporal Evil - Worldly Evil Jesus was sent with a mission – to preach, teach, heal & set at liberty: Do we believe (Part 5) (May 15, 2022) (Galatians 1:4-5 KJV; Colossians 1:12-13 KJV) Deliverance defined: To free; to release, as from restraint; to set at liberty; to deliver one from captivity; to rescue, to save, to give, to transfer; to put into another's hand or power; to commit; to pass from one to another. Mission of Jesus - Points of the mission: Luke 4:18-19 KJV (1) “Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me“; (2) “he hath anointed me”; (3) “preach the gospel to the poor”; (4) “heal the brokenhearted”; (5) “preach deliverance to the captives”; (6) “recovering of sight to the blind”; (7) “set at liberty them that are bruised”; (8) “To preach the acceptable year of the Lord” ● “It is finished” (tetelestai): John 17:4 KJV I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. Jesus raised up like unto Moses: Deuteronomy 18:15 KJV The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; ● The Lord said: Deuteronomy 18:18 KJV I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. ● Hebrews 3:3 KJV - For this [man] was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. From the physical to the spiritual system: ● Moses as the physical deliverer: Delivered from Mizraim (Egypt/misery) by the instruction of God’s Feasts of the Lord (Leviticus 23 & Exodus 12 KJV) with the implementation of Lamb Inspection Day; Passover; Unleavened Bread and First Fruits ● Jesus as the spiritual deliverer: The Lamb of the world; The slaughtered Passover Lamb; The eaten unblemished lamb at the Feast of Unleavened Bread; The First Fruit - the firstborn among many brethren (Romans 8:28-29 KJV) ● Spiritual darkness to light: Colossians 1:12-13 KJV Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son: ● Deliverance from sin to righteousness – error to truth: Romans 6:17-18 KJV But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. (18) Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. Physical to spiritual – Temporal deliverance to spiritual deliverance: ● After Mizraim (Egypt/misery): He rescues His people from their enemies (1 Samuel 17:37; 2 Kings 20:6), and from the hand of the wicked (Psalm 7:2; 17:13; 18:16-19; 59:2). He preserves them from famine (Psalm 33:19), death (Psalm 22:19-21), and the grave (Psalm 56:13; 86:13; Hosea 13:14). God is defined as the Deliverer of Israel who rescues His people, as an expression of His mercy and love (Psalm 51:1; 71:2; 86:13) (From Got Questions.org) ● Deliver/deliverance in the Psalms is used nearly 60 times ● Then comes Jesus – Yeshua means deliverance; salvation; God saves; deliverer; savior; rescuer ● Jesus is more than the slaughtered lamb – He came to “set at liberty them that are bruised”: ● Deliverer from the temporal/world: Galatians 1:4 KJV Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: ● Required from believers: 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 KJV Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, (18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. We are still being delivered from the temporal/world: ● Note: We are not speaking of bad choices/consequences of sins: If we know better and do it -it is sin (James 4:17 KJV); Trust in the LORD with all thine heart - not ourselves (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV) ● Scripture & the world has boundaries: 2 Timothy 4:10 KJV For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, ● Apostle Paul speaks an evil world: 2 Corinthians 1:8 KJV For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: ● Notice the tenses: 2 Corinthians 1:9-10 KJV But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: (10) Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver [us]; ● Refer to story of Job and Pastor Andrew Brunson ● Deliverance In a temporal world: Galatians 1:4 KJV Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: How “might” He deliver us: ● Don’t be a part of it – we are to know better: 2 Corinthians 6:17 KJV Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, ● From Jewish Jewels.org: We as believers, live in a fallen world, need deliverance from attacks of the enemy. This takes many forms: depression, fatigue, insomnia, spirits of anger, jealousy, self-condemnation, addictions, etc. The enemy takes advantage of our areas of weakness. Our Lord stands ready to deliver us, to set us free, but we have a part to play. We must resist the devil (1 Peter 5:8-9; James 4:7) and not give place to him (Ephesians 4:26-27). The flesh must be crucified daily (1 Corinthians 15:31; Galatians 5:24). This includes taking control of our thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:3-5), humbling ourselves (James 4:6), and forgiving all those who have hurt us (Matthew 18:21-22). Most of all, we must submit to the lordship of Yeshua and do all we can to enter into greater intimacy with Him. His Love will set us free. God longs to deliver His children, to help us walk in the authority and freedom that He has already purchased for us on the tree of sacrifice (Colossians 1:13; Luke 10:19; Romans 8:37). ● Continuing: Sometimes we need help in order to be totally delivered from oppressive spirits, especially those connected with childhood traumas and dysfunctional family backgrounds. There is a story in the Gospel of John that speaks to this truth. Yeshua had arrived at the site of His friend Lazarus’s grave. He told those with Him to take the stone away that covered the entrance of the burial cave. When they did, Yeshua prayed to His Father, and cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” “And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Yeshua said to them, ‘Loose him, and let him go.‘” (John 11:43-44). ● Notice: Yeshua raised Lazarus from the dead. But He asked others to unwrap him. That is the ministry of deliverance! God saves. He raises us from spiritual death, but many times He uses His disciples to help us get out of our old spiritual graveclothes, so that we can walk in newness of life. Rejoice and give thanks: Colossians 1:12-13 KJV Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son: John 14:1 KJV Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 11:26 KJV And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this

Deliverance: The Truth Will Set You Free From the “Enemy-ites” Our Lord stands ready to deliver us, to set us free, but we have a part to play (Part 6) (May 22, 2022) (John 8:23-32 KJV; Jesus explains the “when” and “then” of freedom: John 8:23 KJV And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. ● Confused they ask: John 8:25 KJV Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even [the same] that I said unto you from the beginning. ● Equal power to God (John 5:36 KJV); equal judgment to God (John 8:16 KJV); equal authority with God (John 7:16–18 KJV); sent by God (John 8:18 KJV); approved of by God (John 6:27 KJV); the one and only way to know spiritual truth (John 8:12 KJV); those who reject Him do not know God (John 8:47 KJV) ● The “when” of freedom: John 8:28-29 KJV Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. (29) And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. ● The “then” of freedom: John 8:31-32 KJV Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed; (32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. ● Keywords of truth: “I am from above: ye are of this world”; “I said unto you from the beginning”; “I do nothing of myself”; “I do always those things that please him”; when we believe; then we can be free; if we continue in the word; we can know the truth ● The problem is God (not us) defines freedom: The truth sets us free to “do always those things that please him” Parable of Sower and Seed explains “receiving” the word: Matthew 13:18-23 KJV): ● Verse 19 – wayside: Hear the word, understand not,the wicked on snatches it away ● Verse 20-21 – stony places: Received the word, receive joy, but shallow root, continue a while but the storms of life carry the hearer away – “he is offended” ● Verse 22 – among the thorns: Received the word “the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful” ● 2 Timothy 4:10 KJV “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed ● Verse 23 – good ground: Received the word, understands the word, bears fruit by the word Freedom is a choice: ● Three kinds of freedom: Freedom from the constraints of society; Freedom to do what we want to do; Freedom to be who we were meant to be – like Him (Jesus) that said “I do always those things that please him” (Father) ● Freewill – a choice from the beginning: Genesis 2:16-17 KJV And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: (17) But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. ● Stand fast against the “enemy-ites”: Galatians 5:1 KJV Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. ● We are free BUT – do not take advantage of freedom: Galatians 5:13 KJV For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. ● We are free BUT – as servants of God: 1 Peter 2:16-17 KJV As free, and not using [your] liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. (17) Honour all [men]. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. ● Honor the King, fear God and “do always those things that please him” God’s “got it” – does it really say that: ● Benjamin Franklin said, “Half a truth is often a great lie” ● C. S. Lewis said, “If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth, only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair.” ● Promise of God – then and now: Exodus 6:6 KJV Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I [am] the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: ● Set free BUT: Exodus 23:31 KJV And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee. ● Power of God delivered the Israelites from the “enemy-ites”: Numbers 33:51-53 KJV Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan; (52) Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places: (53) And ye shall dispossess [the inhabitants] of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it. What are the “enemy-ites”: ● The physical “enemy-ites” – the enemy: Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites ● Including the immorality: Pictures, images, high places and possessions ● See 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 KJV as the parallel scripture ● Modern day spiritual “ites”: Lust”ites”, anger”ites”, mammon”ites”, reject”ites”, abuse”ites”, religion”ites”, alcohol”ites”, grudge”ites”, and pride”ites”, etc. ● Modern day battle: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 KJV For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (4) (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; Don’t be an “enemy-ite”; don’t follow an “enemy-ite”; don’t become an “enemy-ite”: ● Balaam, a prophet from Mesopotamia; blessed Israel; his heart was not right; is blamed for seducing the Israelites to sin by engaging in sexual misconduct and idolatry; becomes a Midianite;is eliminated by God (Book of Numbers KJV) ● The Doctrine of Balaam is blasted throughout scripture and revealed in the church of Pergamos: Revelation 2:14 KJV But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. Explained: The “when”; “if”; “then” of freedom Know: Our Lord stands ready to deliver us, to set us free

Deliverance: Listen Carefully to God’s Instruction Don’t be an “enemy-ite”; don’t follow an “enemy-ite”; don’t become an “enemy-ite”: (Part 7) (May 29, 2022) (Numbers 22:1-41 KJV; Revelation 2:14 KJV) Power of God delivered the Israelites from the “enemy-ites”: Numbers 33:51-53 KJV Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan; (52) Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places: (53) And ye shall dispossess [the inhabitants] of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it. (Including the immorality/ idolatry: Pictures, images, high places and possessions) Power of God will deliver us still: ● Notice the tenses: 2 Corinthians 1:9-10 KJV But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: (10) Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver [us]; ● Modern day spiritual “ites”: Lust”ites”, anger”ites”, mammon”ites”, reject”ites”, abuse”ites”, religion”ites”, alcohol”ites”, grudge”ites”, and pride”ites”, etc. ● Modern day battle: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 KJV For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (4) (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; Don’t be an “enemy-ite”; don’t follow an “enemy-ite”; don’t become an “enemy-ite”: ● Balaam, a prophet from Mesopotamia; blessed Israel; his heart was not right; is blamed for seducing the Israelites to sin by engaging in sexual misconduct and idolatry; becomes a Midianite; is eliminated by God (Book of Numbers KJV) ● The Doctrine of Balaam is blasted throughout scripture and revealed in the church of Pergamos: Revelation 2:14 KJV But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. ● Error of Balaam: Jude 11 KJV Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. ● Summarized – Don’t go that way: 2 Peter 2:15-16 KJV Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam [the son] of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; (16) But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet. Balak, king of Moab, fears an advancing Israel – his evil desire: (Numbers 22:1-14 KJV) ● Verse 1 – Israel was on the move; Verse 2 – Balak saw everything; Verse 3 – Moab was distressed & afraid; Verse 4 – “Now shall this company will lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field”; Verse 5 – Balak sends messengers to Balaam ● The message from Balak: Numbers 22:6 KJV Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they [are] too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, [that] we may smite them, and [that] I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest [is] blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed. ● Verse 7 – Messengers are caring a reward for the “do gooder”; Verse 8 – Balaam tells messengers that he will seek advice from the Lord; Verse 9-11 – conversation (who, what, why) ● God’s commandment: Numbers 22:12 KJV And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they [are] blessed. ● Verse 13– Balaam “refuseth” (But would really like to go out and play); Verse 14 – Messengers return with the money and no cooperation from Balaam Balak, king of Moab, ups the ante: (Numbers 22:15- KJV) ● Balak’s offer: Numbers 22:17 KJV For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people. ● Uh oh: Verse 18 – Even IF offered Balak’s “house full of silver and gold” I will not do it. (Notice: No “no”); Verse 19 – Balaam tells messenger to stay the night while he talks to the Lord; ● God’s instruction – “enough rope to hang yourself”: Numbers 22:20 KJV And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, [and] go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do. ● He was not asked: Numbers 22:21 KJV And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab. God’s anger was kindled: ● Verse 22 – God is angry at Balaam’s decision; send angel of the Lord; finds Balaam and servants riding with him; Verse 23-34 – the ass sees “the angel of the Lord” three times; Balaam “smites” the ass three times; The ass talks sense w/Balaam; Balaam repents and offers to “get me back” ● More instruction – different but the same: Numbers 22:35 KJV And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak. ● Verse 36-37 – Balaam meets Balak in Balak’s in home territory of Moab (Moabites); Balak tells he has the power to honour Balaam; Verse 38 – Balaam insists he will only speak the “word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak”; Verse 39-40 – Balaam goes w/Balak; Balak offers more temptation to Balaam and his princes ● Balak continues a guided tour and Balaam follows: Numbers 22:41 KJV And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost [part] of the people. The question; weak repentance; negotiation: ● A talking donkey or God: Numbers 22:28 KJV And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times? ● OK, you caught me: Numbers 22:34 KJV And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again. ● Negotiation with the enemy by invitation/temptation: Numbers 22:37-38 KJV And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour? (38) And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.

Deliverance: Balaam Prophesied “What Hath God Wrought” Benjamin Franklin: “The heart of a fool is in his mouth, but the mouth of a wise man is in his heart” (Part 8) (June 5, 2022) (Numbers 23-24 KJV; Matthew 23:28 KJV) The question; weak repentance; negotiation: ● A talking donkey or God: Numbers 22:28 KJV And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times? ● OK, you caught me: Numbers 22:34 KJV And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again. ● Negotiation with the enemy by invitation/temptation: Numbers 22:37-38 KJV And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour? (38) And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak Prophecies of God through the vessel of Balaam: ● Israel's numbers of people (Numbers 23:7-10 KJV): ● At the high places of Baal (Verse 22:41); Balak wants Balaam to “Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel” (Verse 23:7); Balaam begins “How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, [whom] the LORD hath not defied?” (Verse 23:8); The message: “Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth [part] of Israel?” (Verse 10) ● Balak disappointed: “thou hast blessed them altogether” (Verse 23:11) ● God is with Israel (Numbers 23:18-24 KJV): ● At top of Pisgah (Verse 23:14); Balak asks “What hath the LORD spoken?” (Verse 23:17); Balaam begins “God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Verse 23:19); Balaam continues “He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God [is] with him, and the shout of a king [is] among them.” (Verse 23:21); “there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither [is there] any divination against Israel” (Verse 23:23); “the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion” (Verse 23:24); Balaam/we as the vessel “I have received [commandment] to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it” (Verse 23.20) ● Outcome – Balaam still the vessel: Numbers 23:25-26 KJV And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all. (26) But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do? ● Israel will possess a fertile land and become a kingdom (Numbers 24:3-7 KJV): ● Balak suggests going to top of Peor (Verse 23:27-28); Balaam “went not” for enchantments as other times (Verse 24:1); “Spirit of God came upon him” (Verse 24.2) ● Holy Spirit at work (upon): Numbers 24:4 KJV He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling [into a trance], but having his eyes open: ● Balaam see the beauty of tents of Jacob, Israel, creations of God (Verse 24:5-6); Balaam sees the power of God becoming a kingdom (Verse 24:7-8); And the blessing of God “Blessed [is] he that blesseth thee, and cursed [is] he that curseth thee” (Verse 24:9); ● Balak is angry: Numbers 24:10-11 KJV And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed [them] these three times. (11) Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour. ● Balaam's Final Prophecy (Numbers 24:15-24 KJV): ● Balaam under power of Holy Spirit: Numbers 24:16 KJV He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, [which] saw the vision of the Almighty, falling [into a trance], but having his eyes open: ● Prophecy of the King David & King Jesus: Numbers 24:17a KJV I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, ● King David (star and triangle = star of David); then Jesus Christ (Star of Bethlehem; “one star differeth from another star in glory” - 1 Corinthians 15:41 KJV; morning star - Revelation 2:28 KJV; “I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star” - Revelation 22:16 KJV) ● Prophecy of Israel’s power over enemies: Numbers 24:17b KJV and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. ● Prophecy of one out of Jacob: Numbers 24:19 KJV Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city. ● Prophecy of fear of God: Numbers 24:19 KJV Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city. ● Parties separate: Numbers 24:25 KJV And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way. The vessel of Balaam seems to have overcome the desires of Balak: ● Outward appearance – prepared for every good work: 2 Timothy 2:20-21 KJV But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. (21) If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, [and] prepared unto every good work. ● But what happened: Numbers 25:1-2 KJV And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. (2) And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. ● Heart examination: Jeremiah 17:9-10 KJV The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it? (10) I the LORD search the heart, try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, [and] according to the fruit of his doings. Results of the heart examination: The heart of a fool is in his mouth, but the mouth of a wise man is in his heart Maybe: Matthew 23:28 KJV Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity

Deliverance: Balaam – Satan’s Invitations Can Kill Benjamin Franklin: “The heart of a fool is in his mouth, but the mouth of a wise man is in his heart” (Part 9) (June 12, 2022) (Numbers 24:25-25: KJV; Matthew 23:28 KJV) Balaam – Wise man or fool: Matthew 23:28 KJV Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. ● Spoke the words of God: Numbers 23:26 KJV . . . . All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do? ● Knew what pleased the Lord: Numbers 24:1 KJV And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness. ● Knew of God’s blessing and cursing: Numbers 24:9 KJV . . . . . Blessed [is] he that blesseth thee, and cursed [is] he that curseth thee. ● Seemed “all in for the Lord”: Numbers 24:10-11 KJV And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed [them] these three times. (11) Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour. ● Balaam left in peace – we end with Numbers 24 KJV: Numbers 24:25 KJV And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way. ● Next verse: Numbers 25:1-2 KJV And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. (2) And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. What did we miss: ● Balaam willing to advertise: Numbers 24:14 KJV And now, behold, I go unto my people: come [therefore, and] I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days. ● Moses places blame on Balaam: Numbers 31:15-16 KJV And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? (16) Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD. ● 24,000 killed before the plague stayed because of actions by Phinehas (Numbers 25:6-9 KJV) ● Ammonites & Moabites forbidden to enter into Israel: Deuteronomy 23:4 KJV . . . . . . because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee. ● BUT: Still not direct scripture about Balaam’s consultation with Balak Outside sources – What was the “way of Balaam”: ● Jude about evil men: Jude 11 KJV Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. ● Jesus about Pergamos: Revelation 2:14 KJV But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. ● Peter about forsaking the right way – gone astray: 2 Peter 2:15 KJV Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam [the son] of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; ● Balaam was personally moral but made money off of unrighteous men ● Balaam spoke God’s words BUT secretly was in iniquity: 2 Peter 2:16-22 KJV But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet. ● Error of Balaam: Sold out God’s reward for man’s reward (Judas?) ● Error of Balaam casts a “stumblingblock before the children of Israel” and the children of God ● Error of Balaam was done by invitation – not explosion BUT implosion ● Remember all the invitations of Balak – Balaam counseled Balak to continue invitations/lust Untouchable becomes touchable – unbreached becomes breached by invitation: ● James about yielding to invitation/lust: James 1:15 KJV Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. ● Protection (by example) is for those that yield not – As Jesus says focus on “do always those things that please him” (John 8:29 KJV – Part 6 of Deliverance series) ● God’s instruction of Numbers 33:51-53 KJV is paralleled in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 KJV: ● “pulling down of strong holds”; “casting down imaginations”; casting down “every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God”; “and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” ● We need to be vigilant & diligent Peter expounds – beware of false prophets (Parallel to Jude): ● Beware: 2 Peter 2:1-2 KJV But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (2) And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. ● The strategy and destiny of false teachers (verse 3); The ungodly will be judged (verse 4-6); The righteous will be delivered (verse 7-9); They are fleshly and proud (verse 10-11); Their spiritual doom is sealed (verse 12-13a); Begins a list of the sins of false teachers (verse 13b-14) ● Sin of Balaam: 2 Peter 2:15 KJV Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam [the son] of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; (16) But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet. ● Biggest word is “forsaken” – especially as a “prophet” ● Parable of Sower and the Seed – among the thorns (Matthew 13: 1–9, 18–23 KJV) ● They speak great swelling words of emptiness (verse 17); allure through the lusts of the flesh (verse 18); promise lliberty yet themselves are slaves, he brought in bondage (verse 19) The danger of falling away – following false teachers: ● 1 Timothy 6:10 KJV For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. ● Romans 6:23 KJV For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. ● Hebrews 10:26 KJV For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, ● Check to outcome of Korah, Cain, Esau, Saul, Demas, Gehazi, Balaam or Judas ● Hebrews 10:38 KJV Now the just shall live by faith: but if [any man] draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. ● 2 Peter 2:120-22 KJV For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. (21) For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known [it], to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. ● Legacy of Balaam finalized: Numbers 31:8 KJV And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; [namely], Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword. Hebrews 10:39 KJV But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul
